We want the community to always be informed in a transparent and data driven way. The data snapshot has been updated to now reflect both of the CDC #Covid19 data tracker metrics - Community Level and Transmission Level. This week’s Covid-19 data snapshot continues to show an upward trend of new cases, up 11% from last week. Hospitalizations and staffed inpatient beds remain low but also have slightly increased.
The community level is LOW and the transmission level is HIGH.
New cases - 128.3 per 100K residents
Hospitalizations - 7.3 per 100K residents
Staffed inpatient beds - 2.2%
What does this mean? The CDC data tracker metrics now measure Community level and Transmission level data that shows the impact of Covid-19 on the healthcare system in our community as well as how much the virus is spreading in the community.
The Community level threshold for case rates is higher as the threat to the healthcare system is lower because of the tools we now have like vaccines and therapeutics which have helped reduce the severity of illness and deaths. The Transmission level threshold is lower and measures case rates in a community greater than 100 cases per 100K residents over a 7 day period indicates high level.
We continue to strongly advise wearing masks indoors and for people in high risk populations . Getting vaccinated and boosted are the most effective tools we have to prevent severe illness and/or deaths.
