5.9% of citizens unemployed in St. Louis city in 2021

St. Louis city recorded an unemployment rate of 5.9% among residents aged 16 and 65 years old in 2021. That’s 9,893 people out of the 302,787 living in St. Louis city at the time, according to data obtained from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The unemployment rate in St. Louis city has increased compared to the 5.8% registered in 2020.

The percentage of people unemployed in St. Louis city was greater than the statewide unemployment rate of 4.5%.

Of the 156,935 people who had a job during that time, 770 were employed in the Armed Forces and 156,165 belonged to the civilian labor force.
